Until a few years ago, the consumption of whey protein was primarily associated with sports nutrition.
Today it is no longer the case.
Whey proteins are used in an increasing number of products:
- dietary supplements;
- protein shakes;
- ready-to-drink beverages;
- bars and snacks;
- high-protein products;
- protein ice creams;
- desserts;
- pastry and bakery;
- products for sports nutrition;
- functional nutrition;
- clinical and specialized nutrition;
- products aimed at maintaining muscle mass;
- formulations for controlling caloric intake.
The growth of the high-protein category has led many more producers to compete for the same raw material.
2. Available whey does not automatically mean WPC80 available
Whey proteins come from milk whey, obtained during certain dairy processing.
However, having available whey does not mean being able to immediately produce WPC80 or WPI.

- fractionated;
- dried;

- presence of other ingredients;
- solubility;
- technical profile;
- available documentation;
- traceability;
- quality consistency between batches.
Why can two whey products have very different prices?
The price difference between two products does not necessarily depend solely on the seller's margin.
